Wendell Edward Pierce\u00a0(born December 8, 1963) is an American actor and businessman. Having trained at\u00a0Juilliard School, Pierce rose to prominence as a\u00a0character actor\u00a0portraying roles on both stage and screen. He first gained recognition portraying the role of Detective\u00a0Bunk Moreland\u00a0in the acclaimed\u00a0HBO\u00a0drama series\u00a0The Wire\u00a0from 2002 to 2008.<\/p>\n
His other notable television roles include the\u00a0trombonist\u00a0Antoine Batiste in\u00a0Treme\u00a0(2010\u20132013),\u00a0James Greer\u00a0in\u00a0Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan (2018\u20132023), the attorney Robert Zane in\u00a0Suits (2013\u20132019), and\u00a0Clarence Thomas\u00a0in\u00a0Confirmation\u00a0(2016). He earned\u00a0Independent Spirit Awards\u00a0nominations for his film roles in\u00a0Four\u00a0(2012) and\u00a0Burning Cane\u00a0(2019), on which he also served as a producer.
